I'm Zhiquan Cao, a bachelor's and master's student at New York University, passionate about humanoid robots. As the team lead of the STEP team, my current project focuses on using reinforcement learning to train a bipedal robot to walk. For the latest updates, check out my LinkedIn profile and our STEP team website. As a new graduate, I am actively exploring opportunities in reinforcement learning, machine learning, and software development engineering within the robotics industry.

Haoxuan Internship
Working as a software engineer, I designed and created a real-time robotic movement visualization software based on C# and Unity platform in the summer of 2021.

Amazon Internship
At Amazon during the summer of 2022, I enjoyed working as a real software engineer and finished a project to connect the error-detection smart camera to the Lambda cloud service. This feature is currently used in the Amazon Fulfillment Center.

As part of my coursework, I built a full-stack website using technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. The website is a preliminary Dungeon&Dragon game. Here is the GitHub link. The website is currently out of maintenance.

Big-Data Analysis Project
In a data science course, I worked on a group project analyzing a large dataset using Spark language on Hadoop data processing tools with an aim to find the most preferable city in the U.S. for new graduates studying CS. Here is my project document on Medium
Full-Stack Websites

Plus Internship
In the summer of 2024, I joined an amazing team at Plus, a leading truck self-driving startup in Santa Clara. I developed simulation software to aid in the evaluation of testing metrics. I met a lot of nice and talented folks. Really enjoyed my stay at Bay Area!

Oasis Robotic Internship
I spent summer 2023 back in Shenzhen, where I joined a prosperous robotic startup to help develop a 3D map generation tool. The final result is pretty, isn't it?
Fun

RC Car
I've also created a 1/8-sized remote control car. It carries my interest in model making and the urge to bring the still-life into life.
Water-based Clay Sculptures
I practice sculpture skills in my free time using water-based clay. To me, it's a necessary skill to create realistic models that will contribute to the design of aesthetical humanoid robots.
